About Red River

Welcome to Red River High School, Home of the Roughriders. Our school serves students living primarily in the southern half of Grand Forks. The school was originally built in 1967 for grades 10-12, and was remodeled in 1995 to accommodate grades 9- 12. Approximately 1,150 students are currently enrolled in grades 9-12.

Red River High School is a four-year comprehensive high school that is fully accredited by AdvancED. We offer a wide range of classes in all content areas. Advancement Placement classes are offered in the four major content areas. Numerous career and technical programs are offered in areas such as mechanics, electricity, building trades, health careers, childcare, food preparation, engineering, architecture, computer software and networking, marketing, and business. The fine arts area has exceptional offerings in music, drama, speech, and visual art. World languages are offered in French, Spanish, German, and Latin. A full range of special education programs is provided to students that are in need of services. Competition is available in athletics, music, journalism, speech, debate, art, science, mathematics, languages, and yearbook. Finally, a counseling staff is available to students seeking assistance in the areas of personal, emotional, academic, or career counseling. The staff at Red River High School is committed to providing students a quality education in a safe and respectful environment. The teaching staff consists of nearly 100 professional educators that received their training at over 20 different colleges and universities. Over 50 percent of the staff holds master’s degrees, with several more actively pursuing their post-graduate work. In addition to the teaching staff, we have a number of support staff that assist teachers and students daily in ensuring they have the necessary materials, assistance, and provide a quality learning environment. In all, there are 150 adults that come to work each day at Red River High School.
